Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al Maualem, Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Allawi, Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Nazar Medani, arrived today to attend the fifth edition of forum for the future 2008.

They were received at the Airport by UAE Foreign Affairs State Minister HE Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Ambassador Abdul Aziz Nasser Al Shamsi, director of the Department of Protocol at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, as well as by Syrian, Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Ambassadors accredited in the UAE.

Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister Murad Medelci arrived yesterday to attend the forum.

The two day "Future Forum 2008" is being organised by the UAE Foreign Ministry in collaboration with the Japanese government.

The UAE will co-chair the forum with Japan, being the current president of the G8.

Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hirofumi Nakasone, is expected to arrive in the UAE later today to represent his country at the Forum.

Senior government officials from the G8, some European, Middle East and North African countries will be participating in the forum, which will also attract about 200 VIPs from 38 countries, in addition to representatives of 30 organisations from the Middle East, civil society organisations and the business sector.
