Abu Dhabi Traffic Directorate Prepares A Traffic Safety Plan During The Eid Al-Adha Holidays
(13 October 2013)

The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate developed a comprehensive traffic plan with a view to make roads safer across the emirate. This plan is in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy and its outreach plan to provide traffic safety in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region during the Eid Al-Adha Holidays.

Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said that concerted efforts will be intensified to reduce causes that lead to traffic accidents during the Eid Al-Adha holidays. This campaign is part of the awareness initiative launched by the Abu Dhabi Police for the occasion of Eid Al Adha, in line with the “Your Safety” campaign implemented by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Al Harithi warned against using mobile phones or reading text messages while driving, which could decrease motorists’ attention and increase the possibility of traffic accidents and their resulting deaths and serious injuries. He also called upon motorists to seat children under the age of 10 in the back seat.

Furthermore, Brigadier Al Harthi urged motorists to abide by traffic laws and speed limits, to pay attention while driving, leave sufficient distance between vehicles, wear their seat belts, and regularly inspect their vehicles’ tires. He also warned them against running red light signals and entering a road without ensuring that it’s clear; urging them to avoid overloading their vehicles with luggage or passengers.
