Under the patronage of His Highness General SheikhMohammed bin ZayedAl Nahyan, CrownPrince of Abu Dhabiand Deputy Supreme Commanderof the Armed Forces, the KhalifaFundfor Enterprise Developmentis kicking off the fifth edition of its annual exhibitionandceremonynextMonday.The three-day exhibition will be held at the Abu DhabiNational Exhibition Center, showcasing50projectsthat have been fundedbyKhalifa Fundthroughout the year.
His Excellency Hussein JassimAl Nowais, Chairman of the Khalifa Fundfor Enterprise Development stated: “Through this exhibition, Khalifa Fund will motivate other entrepreneurs bydisplayingthe incredible success storiesfrom projectsthat we have financed. We will show how we haveassistedthe ownersto overcome theirobstacles,particularly at the start-up phase which is the most challenging.”
He pointed out that theselected projects fallunder the umbrella oftheFund’s goal of encouragingconstantimprovement and promotingacultureofcreativityandinnovation that will shapethe economiclandscapeof the Emirate ofAbuDhabi, while enhancing the country’s competitivenessand improving the living standards for its people.
HE Al Nowaisfurther explainedthattheexhibition will feature50stands, with projects that have benefited from Khalifa Fund’s fundingandservicesparticipatingforthefirsttime.The most deserving participantsweremeticulously selected based on the quality and innovation shown in their operations.A diverse range of industries is covered, includingindustrialproducts, food and beverages, InformationandCommunicationTechnology (ICT), and serviceindustriesamong others.
Explaining why a three-day duration was chosen, HE Al Nowais said Khalifa Fund aims togive the best possible access for the greatest amount ofcitizens, students and entrepreneurs to come and beinspired by successful entrepreneurs from their own emirate and nation, so that they can emulate this success in pursuitof excellence, innovation and creativity by taking advantage ofthe services offered byKhalifa Fund.
Khalifa Fundwill also showcasea number ofsocial initiativesthat it is spearheading as a way to give back to the local community. Theseinclude the "Sougha"initiative which aimsto preserve the national heritage byencouragingentrepreneursto convert traditional craftsintoa lucrative source of incomeforthemselves and their families. Meanwhile another initiativeencouragesfarmerstoadoptsmart hydroponic methodsin order to savewater.
Theannualeventwillalso see the announcement of the winners of the Khalifa Fund Award for Entrepreneurship,featuringgovernmental,quasi-governmental andprivate sector entities.
Awards will be presented in several categories, namely the Bedaya program, Zeyada program, Khutwa program, Heritage sector, Membership program and the Best Emirati Project for non-beneficiaries of the Fund’s services.
