The Directorate General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched an awareness-raising initiative to enhance pilgrims’ safety. The initiative, in pursuance of the media campaign carried out by the Security Media Directorate at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, includes a set of traffic and security awareness programs, under the slogan: “Your Safety.”
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police urged the pilgrims across the UAE to comply with the instructions issued by the relevant authorities in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, banning vehicles carrying less than 25 passengers from transporting pilgrims and entering Makkah and the Holy sites for this Hajj season. Furthermore, Major General Al Menhali called on pilgrims to cooperate and abide by the instructions issued by the concerned authorities upon arrival to Saudi Arabia. Comprehensive and accurate information about pilgrims and their companions shall be provided to Saudi Authorities to ensure full and quick services.
Al Menhali stressed the directorate’s keen interest to cooperate with partners in various government agencies to promote public awareness. “The main objective of this initiative is to educate pilgrims on prevention and safety requirements, and acquaint them with the services provided by Abu Dhabi Police. It also aims at boosting awareness efforts and increasing safety level, especially traffic safety to ensure a safe pilgrimage (Hajj) season,” pointed out Al Menhali.
Concluding, Al Menhali noted that coordination is underway with the Security Media Department to enhance public awareness on traffic safety, and develop the culture of security traffic safety via modern means, notably through the Abu Dhabi Police website, and the various social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
