Mafraq Hotel Abu Dhabi has officially been awarded the Weqaya certification menu by the Abu Dhabi Health Authority and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority at a ceremony held on the 23rd of September 2013 at the Health Authority.

The ceremony was attended by H.E.Prof.Dr. Maha Barakat, Director General of Heath Authority Abu Dhabi who presented the award as well as senior management from the hotel. The Weqaya certification is awarded to hotels, hospitals and outlets whose menus contribute towards a healthy diet. The Health Zone Menu concept at Mafraq Hotel is now offering guests food options packed with vitamins, minerals, and proteins. The menu includes salads, low fat steamed and grilled food, wholegrain bread sandwiches, minimum oils and fats, vitamin packed soups, fresh seasonal fruits and low fat yogurt shakes. The meals are low in fat, low in salt, high in fibre and always less than 750 calories per item.

The hotel has plans to expand and have Weqaya certified meals feature in other outlets at the property.
