The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate’s sports vehicles led a motorcycle parade, which was recently organizedinthe capital city of Abu Dhabi as part of the Abu Dhabi International MotorbikeShow. Approximately 400 motorists fromthe United Arab Emirates, Sultanateof Oman, and other GCC countries participated.
The Directorate’s Protocol and Traffic Control Section’s motorcycles displayed a variety of formations during theparade,in addition to accompanying the parade fromthe front, the back, and the sides. The ambulance of the Abu Dhabi Police’sGeneral Directorate of Central Operations followed the parade,which began at Al Samha and went throughYas Island andtheCorniche Roadto end at theMarina Mall, to provide supportwhennecessary.
MajorKhalidAl Fil,Head of the Community-based Initiatives Team from the Department ofPublic Relations Section at Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that necessary measures were taken during the parade includinglane controland a trafficawareness lecturefor themotoristsbefore the parade’s commencement. The awareness lecture urged participants to adhere totrafficrules, abide by the trafficlanes, follow the accompanying trafficpatrolsguidance, and enlighten them towards the resulting dangers due to reckless motorcycledriving and the need to bearolemodelfor others. He wished everyone success.
He added: “Thetrafficpatrols ensured that the participating motorists are abiding by the necessary precautions required of motorcyclists, which are towear ahelmet and protective clothingthat helps to avoid dangerous injuries. Further requirements include wearingprotective eyeglassesand observing safety procedures to prevent injuries from accidents.
The Traffic andPatrols Directorate, the Community Police, and the organization Saaed, which aims to helpreducetraffic accidents, participated inthe exhibition held in the Marina Mall. The exhibition displayed traffic patrol motorcycles. Awareness publications were distributed to visitors and special bulletins were given to people to spread awareness regarding the black point traffic system. The initiatives launched by the Trafficand Patrols Directorate were also promoted including its contribution to raising the trafficculturelevel among motorbike drivers and reducing traffic accidentscaused by such vehicles in the context of theroad safetystrategyoftheAbu Dhabi Police and the effective communications outreach targeting the community.
The EmiratesDrivingInstitute also participated in the traffic exhibition with a special corner at the Marina Mall to inform the publicabout the companysubscription protocolsto obtainamotorcyclelicense highlighting that applicants must first open afileat the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department.
Khalid Al Mansoori, Business Development Department Manager at the Emirates Driving Institute, said that many facilities are beingput forward currently forthe exhibition. These facilities, which are available for a short period, are related to training, reservation procedures, and attendingtheoretical lessons. In addition, for the first timein the Middle East, the company provides advanced trainingfor motorcycle driving through the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in the UK.
