Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) recently held a blood donation drive at its Head Office in Abu Dhabi. A large number of employees from various divisions of the bank turned up to make the generous donation to help save lives. The Bank partnered with the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City to carry out the donation and a team was on hand to test employees to make sure they were eligible to donate. Senior Executives from across the Bank also attended the blood donation drive.
Dr. Majdi Abdul Muhdi, Head of Corporate Communications, at ADCB said “This year’s drive was an absolute success with over 100 ADCB employees turning up to donate their blood. As a Bank, we are committed to supporting the broader community and helping those in need.”
The blood donation drive was organized as ADCB’s latest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in response to the increasing demand for blood to treat emergency cases and blood disorders such as blood cancer, thalassemia, sickle cell, and anemia as there is no substitute for human blood.
He added, “We organized this donation drive to help build up the stock of blood which is desperately needed during the summer months when people are on holidays and not donating as regularly. It is of critical importance to ensure that people actively think about donating regularly. Giving blood takes very little of our time and effort, yet it can really make a difference and save lives”
This is not the first time that the Bank has arranged such donation drives, and previously the bank has made an effort to highlight other health related issues such as Breast Cancer Awareness.
