Ali & Sons Motors, the sole distributor of Volkswagen in Abu Dhabi, unveiled the all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI at Khalidiyah Mall, officially launching the seventh generation of the iconic model in Abu Dhabi.

The legendary Golf GTI has become one of Volkswagen’s most iconic models since it first burst on to the automotive scene 37 years ago, and has sold nearly 1.9 million models to date worldwide. Volkswagen Ali & Sons’ launch now means Golf GTI fans in Abu Dhabi can get behind the wheel of the new car.

The Golf GTI combines sportiness and driving fun with the strengths of the Golf into a unique concept of compact sport sedans. The 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox helps to reach DIN fuel consumption value of 6.01/100 km; meaning that the new Golf GTI offers an 18 per cent improvement in fuel economy compared to the previous model.

The latest model of the legendary compact sports car is powered by a turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engine (TSI) with 162 kW / 220 HP which comes as standard, and accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 244 km/h.

Confident in the high demand that the new model will enjoy in the emirate, Volkswagen Ali & Sons, General Manager Ammar Al Johmani, said: “The all new Golf GTI has been one of the most anticipated new models for 2013 and offers customers a tantalising list of options, serving up what fans of the hot hatch have been waiting for.

Offers coupled with the launch – including up to three years, or 45,000km, servicing free of charge, along with free warranty of up to five years – will further enhance demand for the new model.”

With more speed, better fuel economy, improved dynamics, and increased safety the arrival of the seventh generation Golf GTI will not only be welcome news to GTI and Volkswagen fans, but also to anyone who has a passion for superior performance cars.
The sporty DNA of the Golf GTI is suitably reflected in its traditional red-painted brake callipers, two chrome tailpipes and sport suspension. The exterior is complemented with 18-inch “Brooklyn” GTI wheels, special side sills, a diffuser and smoked LED rear lights (including LED licence plate illumination).

Visual highlights in the interior are sport seats in tartan pattern (‘Clark’) or black leather, a black roofliner and red ambience lighting.
