Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and President of BaniYas Sports and Cultural Club, honored the winning teams for accomplishing great sporting achievements for the year 2012-2013. The acknowledgement came in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and First Vice President of BaniYasSports and Cultural Club.
The honoring took place during an Iftar buffet hosted by His Highness on Tuesday evening at the Hotel Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. The buffet was attended by representatives of sports federations; the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the main enthusiast of sport in Abu Dhabi; Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior;Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of BaniYas Sports and Cultural Club;Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Abu Dhabi Police; and Lt. Colonel Mubarak bin Muhairom, Deputy Chairman and President of the footballcompany at the club. Also in attendance were members of the council and Mr. SuhailSaeed Al Ameri, President of the Sports Games Company,in addition to sponsors, partners, journalists, and a number of guests.
His Highness congratulated the winning teams and urged them to exert more efforts to achieve excellence in various sports.Moreover, participants reviewed the strategic plan and vision of the club for the period 2013-2017.
His Highness Sheikh Saifbin Zayedthen honored the achieving teams, most notably: the football team winning the 28th Gulf Championship and the volley ball team, which was crowned champion of the Zayed Cup, in addition to the fencing team, the jujutsu team, and the women’s basketball team.His Highness also honored the sponsors, partners, and the print and broadcast media.
In his address on the occasion, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of BaniYas Sports and Cultural Club, welcomed HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He stressed that the club has reached this level of excellence thanks to the attention and guidance of Their Highnesses despite their many responsibilities. He also pointed out that the club won the 28th Gulf Football Championship, a win highly appreciated by the higher leadership.
He also noted that the aspirations of the club are boundless, underscoring the directives to develop a clear vision and future plan for the club that focuses on developing games, and engaging and supporting young talent. He further highlighted the responsibility of the club to empower younger generations to assume the social role assigned to sports.
Al Raisi indicated that the club used a specialized consultancy firm to develop its vision and strategy to begin a new era full of remarkable work with lasting success. This is accompanied by supporting the club’s team with a professional and integrated crew of trainers and administrators, as well as attracting new players; this vision also applies to the club’s other activities.
“We will make every effort, God willing, armed with team spirit developed by the club under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, President of the Club, so that it reaches the highest ranks worthy of our nation. In recognition of their efforts, we promise to realize outstanding achievements, and we will, God willing, have a strong presence in domestic and foreign competitions, as per the vision of the club’s leadership,” he concluded.
