In line with the spirit of giving and sharing during the holy month of Ramadan and on the occasion of the UAE Humanitarian Day, which marks the anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the Union; the Ministry of Finance (MoF) organised a series of charitable activities and community events in its Abu Dhabi and Dubai premises. Through these events, MoF emphasised its commitment and responsibility towards the UAE community. In fact, these initiatives were held in collaboration with associations speciliased in providing humanitarian aid for those in need.
The Ministry’s charitable activities aimed to encourage its employees to support the campaign launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid AL Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, whereby the purpose behind the campaign is to provide clothing for around a million deprived children around the world. Moreover, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Red Crescent Authority, set up an Iftar campaign where 1000 needy were provided with an iftar meal.
In addition, MoF held its Annual Ramadan gathering for its staff and senior leadership. The event was attended by a number of orphans from Dar Zayed for Family Care, members of the Environmental Agency along with a number of media attendees.
Commenting on the Ramadan activities, HE Musabah Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Services Sector at MoF, said: “The Ministry is committed to organising and taking part in social activities. This reflects our strategy of integrating with members of the UAE’s local community and of providing a high level of government financial services.”
HE added: “The Ministry chose to participate in the UAE Humanitarian Work Day by providing clothing for deprived children around the world. Through our different Ramadan initiatives, we wanted to encourage the UAE community to participate in these important religious and national events and to promote humanitarian contributions on a global level.”
It should be noted that during this year’s Ramadan gathering, MoF presented its attendees with a special film on the life and achievements of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. In addition, gifts were distributed to all participants on the occasion of UAE Humanitarian Work Day.
