Abu Dhabi Police Seven-a-Side Football Tournament Kicks Off

The Seven-a-Side Football Tournament started yesterday evening at the Police Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi. A total of 18 teams representing different departments of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and the Ministry of Interior participated in the tournament. The tournament is organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Directorate General at the Abu Dhabi Police.

Colonel Muhammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said: “This tournament falls under the directives of our police commandment and reflects our belief in the role played by sport to build comprehensive police characteristics. We also believe that sport has a vital role in implanting self-confidence and the concept of honest competition among all employees of the Abu Dhabi Police.”

“This tournament enhances sports, and builds connections and harmony among the brothers of one family,” he added, pointing out that this event aims to achieve brotherly connections and create an atmosphere of love and unity. “We want to empower trust and lay a foundation for greater collaboration among employees of the Abu Dhabi Police,” he continued.

First Lieutenant Jamal Essa Al Sa’adi, Manager of the Teams and Championships Branch at the Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the importance of such sports championships stating that such events gather all members of the Abu Dhabi Police reflecting the spirit of love and cooperation among the members of the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police.

He explained that 18 teams, which represent the departments and centers of the Abu Dhabi Police, participate in the competition. The competition adheres to the group system in which the first and the second of each group qualify to enter the finals.

During the first day of the tournament, the Engineering Projects team won against the Transportation and Public Works Team by 2 to 1; the Al Ain Team won against the Employees Affairs Team with a score of 6 to 0; while the Government and Diplomatic Establishments Protection Team won against the Bani Yas Police Team with a score of 4 to 0.

First Lieutenant Jamal Essa Al Sa’adi, Manager of the Teams and Championships Branch at the Abu Dhabi Police, members of the organizing committee, and participating team supervisors attended the opening ceremony.

Today will be the second day of the tournament with three matches scheduled to take place: in the first game, the Ports team and IT Team play against each other; in the second, the Special Tasks Team plays against Security Information team; while in the third match, the Commander-in-Chief Team faces the Emergency Team.
