AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS – Abu Dhabi’s first standalone high-end luxury shopping destination – is pleased to announce that it is hosting the ‘Samar Arts’ exhibition by renowned Emirati artist Dr. Samar Al Shamsi in the UAE capital from 21st July until 7th August 2013.
Internationally recognised, Dr. Al Shamsi’s work represents the challenges of globalisation in realistic, abstract and surreal formutilising water, oil and acrylics. Her portfolio is also celebrated for its commissioned portraits of high profile individuals, including the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and US President Barack Obama, whose portrait is displayed in the library of The White House.
Among her numerous international awards, Dr. Al Shamsi was most recently honoured with the Excellence in the Arts Award by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Michigan. This marked the first time an Arab woman received the prestigious award, which is presented to distinguished artists in the area of art, music and entertainment.
The captivating pieces that will be presented at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS are a natural fit with the beautiful fashion pieces presented in the destination. Inspired by the Mona Lisa of Leonardo Da Vinci and its enigmatic smile and appearance, the centrepiece of the exhibition is focused on Dr. Al Shamsi’s Arab Mona Lisa portrait which is being unveiled in the UAE for the first time and symbolises the core of oriental Arab beauty.
‘Samar Arts’ marks the third exhibition to be held at the luxury shopping destination, reflecting its role as a centre for both fine and applied arts in Abu Dhabi, and further enhancing its commitment to hosting exhibitions and other activities.
The ‘Samar Arts’ exhibition will be on display daily from 21st July 2013 until 7th August 2013 at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS.
