Summer Program For Al Ain Police Officers’ Children Kicks Off
(1 July 2013)

The summer program of activities for Al Ain Police Officers’ children, which is organized by the Al Ain Police Officers Club at the Clubs Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, has kicked off. The two-week program that targets pupils at preparatory and elementary schools will conclude on July 4th.

Colonel Hareb Khamis Al Khaili, Deputy Head of Abu Dhabi Police Clubs Department, said that this program embodies the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’ strategy to occupy the children’s leisure time with cultural, religious, sports, and entertaining activities in an effort to protect them against reckless behavior during summer vacation.

“The summer program includes a wide variety of activities, and introduces children to their fathers’ work in serving and protecting society. The program aims to encourage them towards creativity and innovation,” he said.

He continued: “The program also includes field trips to some police work locations based on their age category. The club facilities have been prepared to welcome the children and provide proper services. We have also organized a staff of supervisors and volunteers to serve them.”

Since its inception, the summer program has witnessed a significant turnout and participation from officers’ children who commended the program this year. The program has grown this year to include female participants and introduce more activities. Prizes were dedicated and competitions were organized to select distinguished female participants in each activity to promote the spirit of fair competition among pupils.

Different police departments and centers take part in the program, including Public Relations, Al Ain Police Directorate; Social Support Center; Community Police; Civil Defense; Emergency and Rescue; Traffic Institute; Security Inspection (K9); Police Schools and Medical Service Department. The participating social entities included: Dar Zayed for Family Care; Emirates Dog Breeders Society; Emirates Animal Welfare Society; and Alhili Horse Riding Training Center.

The pupils visited a number of locations, including the Traffic Institute in Al Ain, where officials introduced them to the equipment used in police vehicles and motorcycles. They were also given instructions on the dangers of speeding and the importance of following traffic laws and regulations.

The officers’ children also visited the exhibition in Al Ain Mall, held as part of the celebrations of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, where they reviewed the efforts of the Anti-drug Department and other entities such as Customs, Social Support, and Punitive Reformatory Establishment in Al Ain.
