The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development has issued a new book shedding light on the origin of the names of some historic places in the UAE.
Titled "The Origin of Names of UAE’s Historic Places", the book, authored by Ahmed Mohammed Obaid, a UAE national research fellow, is part of a series of heritage books being issued by the ministry with the aim of educating the general public and to boost the habit of reading in the UAE society.
Chapter 1 of the three-chapter book, deals with the locations which old geography and history books referred to as part of the then Oman, Chapter 2 deals with locations which are still within the boundaries of the UAE today, while Chapter 3 deals with locations which has similar names in other Arab countries.
