The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate carried out traffic awareness programs for 277 taxi drivers from the Tawasul Transport Company in collaboration with the SAAED Association for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents. The programs highlighted regulations and traffic rules within the scope of the “Summer Without Accidents” campaign. They also underscored the priority of making roads safer, the traffic safety strategy, and inter-community communication methodology.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Amri, Chief of Public Relations Section in the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said that summer awareness programs for drivers focus on enhancing the traffic culture and reducing the causes of traffic accidents on internal and external roads in an effort to reduce the number of deaths and injuries.
He said: “The lectures given by the First Warrant Officer Salem Al Nahdi from the Public Relations Department and Corporal Abdullah Al Hosani from the SAAED Association, focused on the main causes of traffic accidents such as running red lights, speeding without taking road conditions into account, not maintaining a safety distance between vehicles, and failing to remain in traffic lanes in addition to negligence, lack of attention, and overtaking on sections of the road where it is prohibited.
Lt. Colonel Al Amri called upon motorists to reduce the causes of traffic accidents during the summer by maintaining their vehicles and ensuring the upkeep of their tires to avoid blow-outs. He stressed the need to adhere to traffic laws and regulations and observe the speed limit.
