Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is inviting individuals in the UAE to take the plunge and sign up for a free swimming lesson on June 18th – part of a global bid by community waterparks and aquatic facilities across the world to break the current Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™.
Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is looking to break the record for the most-attended event hosted at a single venue. The global event – which attracted 24,873 participants last year – is also looking to smash its own record while simultaneously spreading the message that “Swimming Lessons Save Lives”.
Drowning is currently the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14, an incident rate that can be brought down drastically through teaching kids to swim early in life. Research shows if a child doesn’t learn to swim by the third grade, it’s likely they never will.
“As a waterpark and a family attraction located in a country with a sizeable shoreline, the importance of knowing how to swim and having the ability to enjoy water-based activities is very relevant to us here in the UAE,” said Mike Oswald, Park Manager, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. “This seemed like a great way to get involved in a global drive to spread the message of the life-saving value of learning to swim. If there was ever a time to dive in, this would be it!”

Participants registering for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ will receive their free lesson in the Park’s Amwaj Pool. Participants will also be able to enjoy 2-3 hours of free access to Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi’s amazing selection of rides, slides and attractions following the main event – an added incentive to join this exciting event.
