Tawam Hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine, announces that it will organise the second edition of its industry leading Emirates Oncology Conference on November 14-16, 2013 in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. (SEHA). The conference will take place at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, under the theme ‘Setting Higher Standards in Cancer Care’. It will bring together almost 1,000 regional and local specialists in cancer research, treatment, and care to discuss and debate the latest advances in the field of oncology.
The three-day conference will focus on advancements in breast cancer, palliative care, gastrointestinal, gynaecological, urology, and pulmonary oncology; haematology; with specific sessions dedicated to advancements in paediatric oncology treatment. The programme this year will also include distinct sessions on Clinical Trials and Cancer Registry highlighting Tawam’s position as the reference centre for oncology in the region. An invited audience of surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved with the practice of oncology from the UAE, GCC, and the Middle East are expected to attend the conference.
World-renowned researchers and practitioners of oncology that are expected to attend the conference include Dr. Bernard Nordlinger of Hôp. Ambroise Paré, Dr. Mehra Golshan of Dana Farber Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, Dr. John Yves Douillard of ICO R. Gauducheau, and Dr. Richard R. Barakat, from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Well known oncology specialists from the region who will share their insights into research and treatment include Dr. Mohammed Jaloudi of Tawam Hospital, Conference Chair, Dr. Nagi S. El Saghir of American University of Beirut, Dr. Shouki Bazarbashi of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and Dr. Yasser Abd El Kader and Dr. Hamdy Abdel Azim, both from Cairo University.
