The Notary Public in Abu Dhabi has registered a 60 per cent increase in operations in the first half of 2008, with the number of applications reaching 77,292 at the end of July.
Mohammed Ashraf Al Boulaki, Manager of Notary Public Administration at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, attributed the growth to the expansion of notary public centres in the Abu Dhabi emirate as well as providing evening services at some of the offices.
The month of May recorded the highest number of transactions, with a total figure of 12,120, which constitutes 15.7 per cent of the work of first half of the year. Notary Public Al Najda Street in Abu Dhabi witnessed remarkable growth with the total number of procedures increasing from 865 in March, when this office commenced the operations, to 1,297 at the end of the first half of the year, an increase of 50 per cent.
Al Boulaqi said more services would be added to the notary public department’s portfolio, which includes migration to electronic interfaces as well the electronic connectivity through a secure programming application for better services and performance. Also, the department is working on developing unified applications, categorized and numbered to ease and speed up procedures. Also, archiving is taking place through a high tech system, which save space and simplify retrieval processes.
The Notary Pubic Department is working on enhancing the capabilities of its employees by conducting training sessions. Al Boulaki added: "Training sessions in English language, law, customer servicing skills and modern management, all designed along international standards, are being provided to our staff.”
The Notary Public is also engaged in expanding notary public branches to make it easier and more convenient for customers. The number of branches across the emirate is expected to reach 19 shortly. The department has devised ambitious plans to modernize its operations.
