Parents looking for ideas to keep their children gainfully entertained through the long summer holidays might want to consider the Summer Camp 2013 at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.
From June 30 to August 1 and again from August 15 to 27, the capital’s popular beachfront holiday destination will unveil its first-ever summer camp aimed at engaging and entertaining young aficionados through the summer.
Catering to ages 4 to 12 years, the thoughtfully designed program will combine fun with education and feature an array of activities ranging from art and crafts, cooking and baking, indoor and outdoor exercises and competitive games, amongst other activities.
“During the summer holidays it can be difficult to keep children occupied – trips to the malls can ultimately offer little in the way of meaningful interaction or quality recreation time,” said Max Wiegerinck, Hotel Manager, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.
“This is why we have organized the Summer Camp 2013, a program carefully detailed by our skilled team at Sandcastle Club, our dedicated children’s facility. The team has taken on board requests and feedback from parents to design a well-rounded daily and weekly calendar to feature educational, sporting and entertainment activities that are intended to stimulate inquisitive young minds,” he added.
The summer camp will cost AED 200 per day per child, or AED 850 per week. Each week, one optional off-site excursion will be organized for an additional AED 100 per child. The camp will last from 9.00 am until 3:30 pm, Sunday to Thursday.
To ensure that children are involved in age-appropriate activities, there will be two groups - the juniors for ages 4 to 7 and the seniors for ages 7 to 12 years. Children will be attended to by the trained staff at Sandcastle Club, with inclusion of a well-balanced breakfast, lunch and a healthy afternoon snack. On enrollment for a week, participating children will receive two T-shirts and a sling bag. For in-house guests, the Summer Camp will be complimentary.
“Based on the enquiries received from parents looking for activities for children, the camp not only caters to ‘edutainment’ for young minds but also affords parents time to relax and unwind or catch up on simple pleasures that could not be achieved with a busy schedule through the week,” Max concluded.
