Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) today signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on strategic partnerships with government and private sector entities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Statistics Conference 2013. The MoUs were signed with Abu Dhabi Municipality, Department of Transport Abu Dhabi, Urban Planning Council (UPC), Abu Dhabi Sports Council, private mapping and surveying company - Bayanat and global business analytics company SAS. The collaborations are part of SCAD’s efforts to increase the level of cooperation on data sharing and engaging key entities to develop accurate data to support development initiatives in Abu Dhabi.
The MoUs were signed by H.E. Butti Ahmed Mohamed bin Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of SCAD and H.E. Mohamed Hareb Al Yousef, Executive Director of the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi; Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager of UPC; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmood, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council; H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef, Under Secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs; Khaled Sameh Al Milhi, Executive Director of Bayanat; and Riad Gydien, Vice President, SAS Middle East & Africa.
After signing the MoUs, H.E. Al Qubaisi said, “SCAD has been working closely with various entities in the government, semi-government and private sectors as well as educational and scientific research institutions as they represent sources of vital statistical information in Abu Dhabi. We always try to build our relations with strategic partners to maximize the benefits from these statistical resources in the Emirate to help us obtain new, accurate and high quality data according to international best practices.”
“SCAD provides valuable data to decision makers and the business sector in Abu Dhabi to help them develop future strategies based on accurate information which in turn will support the overall development of the Emirate,” said H.E. Al Qubaisi.
H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef said, “We, at the Department of Municipal Affairs, value our strategic relations with SCAD and we are certain that our partnership will have a positive impact on the development of our projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This partnership is mutually beneficial as statistical data sheds light on the latest trends and helps us understand the requirements of our existing and potential customers.”
Falah Al Ahbabi said, “Statistics in commercial and urban development supports our development framework in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. Our urban development plan was earlier based on research and data generated in-house. However, as a result of our partnership with SCAD, today we have access to the latest data produced by SCAD on our behalf, based on their access to international resources. Urban development is at the core of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, and therefore we are certain that SCAD’s contribution will be invaluable to UPC’s plans and urban development in general.”
Riad Gydien, Vice President, SAS Middle East & Africa, said, “SAS is pleased to partner with SCAD and the UAEU to support both parties in their contribution to achieve the 2030 vision. This will be achieved by enabling local talent and bringing in a world-class e-statistical platform.”
