Atlas, the leading international Oil and Gas learning technology and skills provider, has strengthened its presence in Abu Dhabi by partnering with the Centre ofExcellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), effective from 28th April 2013.
Atlas has expanded rapidly over the last three years in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East, due to its focus on delivering skills, competency and compliance solutions, through innovative learning technologies. The International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST) online programme for example, has now been launched in Abu Dhabi and across the region and is making a real contribution to safety.
CERT and Atlas will be promoting Atlas’ award winning e-learning courses, IMIST Online and its bespoke and competency management solutions to the ADNOC group, international oil companies and services companies in the Emirate, using its extensive network and relationships with both corporate and educational establishments. Atlas will also be utilising office space at the CERT Technology Park.
CERT is the commercial, research and training arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), which is the largest higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates. Since its creation in 1996, CERT has grown to be one of the largest private education providers in the Middle East and has become synonymous with quality in education, training, research, and socioeconomicprogress. CERT is also one of the largest MENA (Middle East North Africa) investors in the discovery and commercialisation of technology.
CERT has a strong focus on national human capital building; readying the population in Abu Dhabi for the work place by investing heavily in the development of human capital through its education and training programs.
Atlas will be working closely with CERT and the Oil and Gas Industry to support the nationalisation initiatives through its learning technology solutions.
Dr Tayeb Kamali, Group Chief Executive of CERT said: “Supporting the Oil and Gas Industry through effective training and competency solutions is one of CERT’s priorities. Our new collaboration with Atlas supports our strategy of developing cutting edge technology, innovation and learning to support existing workers and to help to produce the next generation of workers in the Oil and Gas Industry in Abu Dhabi. We are particularly excited with the IMIST standard and adoption of this standard in the UAE will bring world class safety practices to the oil companies.”
John Rowley, CEO of Atlas, commented: “We are delighted that CERT and Atlas have entered into this collaboration agreement in Abu Dhabi. With CERT’s focus on learning technology and its extensivedistribution network, we will be able to enhance the service we deliver to our clients and continue to support the improvement of skills, competency and training in the oil and gas industry in this region.”
