Al Hilal Bank opened its new ‘Seghaar’ children’s branch yesterday, Sunday April 28th 2013, in the presence of students from the Emirates National Schools at its Al Hilal Mall Branch in Abu Dhabi’s Corniche area. The full-fledged branch for the child segment aims to prepare a new generation of financially literate youths. H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan officially inaugurated the facility’s launch.
Although the Seghaar branch operates just like a typical bank, its products and services are specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of young clients. To mark the momentous occasion, a special series of sessions under the theme ‘Hala & Nassour Journey’ has been conducted during the opening day to teach 200 child participants how to earn, save and spend money wisely. Two characters named Hala and Nassour will greet the kids and usher them into four separate rooms separately designated for Learning, Earning, Saving & Protect, and Donate activities. The Hala & Nassour Journey will eventually be held as a regular quarterly event for Seghaar account holders.
“Today’s children are tomorrow’s investors, spenders and consumers. Given their significant social and economic impact on the future, it would be very beneficial to equip them with the proper financial knowhow and skills. Seghaar aims to plant the seeds of financial literacy at a young age and mold a new generation of citizens who know how to put their money to good use, for themselves and for the benefit of the country as well,” said Mohammed Jamil Berro, CEO, Al Hilal Bank.
The Seghaar branch is another testament to the innovative thrust of Al Hilal Bank, a progressive Islamic Bank that owns the world’s first eco-friendly fleet of electric powered mobile bank and offers the ‘Qibla Card,’ the first credit card in the world to incorporate a ‘Qibla’ locator. Al Hilal Bank has forged partnerships with various educational institutions to include finance and banking modules in their programs as part of efforts to educate youths on financial responsibility.
