H.H Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, went today to visit "Latifah", the girl who underwent the successful kidney transplant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).
H.H Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan checked on "Latifah", and wished her a full and speedy recovery so she can get back to her normal life after the success of her kidney transplant surgery. Her condition is currently improving remarkably, and she is recovering gradually at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
H.H Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak affirmed that UAE leadership gives great attention to the health of nationals as well as residents, and provides all necessary support to the health care institutions in the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular, in order to provide world-class medical services according to the highest international standards.
He said that the organ transplant program launched by SEHA and implemented by Sheikh Khalifa Medical City is in line with the UAE government’s quest to provide everyone with world-class health care services, and added that Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, gives special attention to patients in need of kidney transplants, whereas Her Highness has sponsored the Middle East Society of Organ Transplantation conference recently held in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
H.H Sheikh Nayhan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, praised the efforts of the surgeons and medical staff who undertook the operation, as well as all parties involved in the process, especially the task force assigned by the Saudi Commission for Health Services and the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation who participated in transferring the kidney of the deceased Saudi Arabian donor, may he rest in peace.
The kidney transfer and transplant were done successfully. This is considered to be the first surgery of its kind in the UAE after Sheikh Khalifa Medical City succeeded in transferring and transplanting a kidney from a deceased donor in KSA to a 23 year old girl. The kidney transfer from Saudi Arabia to UAE needed a great deal of coordination and planning, but thanks to the great support provided by SEHA and those in charge of it, along with the excellent medical staff at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, the kidney was transferred to the UAE and transplanted successfully.
