Musanada Participates In Abu Dhabi Women’s Sporting Conference

Abu Dhabi Ladies Club & Spots Academy design showcased

 

The Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) participated at the Abu Dhabi 2nd International Conference on Women’s Sports 2013. The conference was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies’ Sports Academy, under the slogan ’Women’s Sports, by International Achievements’, the conference took place from 21-22 April, at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

During the conference, Eng. Alia Al Zarouni, Senior Development Manager at Musanada, gave a presentation regarding the 270,000-square-meter Abu Dhabi Ladies Club (ADLC), the design of which Musanada has almost completed. The Club is being designed and built on behalf of Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC). The project is part of the development plans and cultural initiatives taking place in Abu Dhabi aligned to the Governments Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

The Abu Dhabi Ladies Club comprises of many buildings with recreational, cultural and social natures hosting a range of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spas, craft and educational facilities, playgrounds for children, business resources areas, training facilities for local and resident ladies and other Abu Dhabi visitors, through safe and effective facilities, in accordance with the highest standards of safety and security.

The Main Club Building has a built-up area of 13,000 square meters, the Sports academy an area of 10,500 square meters, while the Art & Music Academy has a built-up area of more than 5,000 square meters.

The Sports Academy includes a fully-equipped sports hall, fully equipped state-of-the-art gymnasium and aerobics halls, squash, table tennis and judo courts, a bowling alley, a restaurant and a cafeteria, a half-Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, as well as other various administrative and sports premises.

Other recreational facilities include an 800-square-meter indoor shooting range with various firearms, accommodating 8 firing lines.

The Art and Music Academy will host a theatre, a library, music rooms, arts and crafts class rooms as well as halls for painting, photography, and exhibitions.

A dedicated Health Club or SPA building, 2,300 square meters, will comprise VIP and regular massage rooms, and a central SPA and shower space linking the club’s diverse activities, and connects through fascinating landscaping to two indoor and outdoor restaurant buildings.

The landscaped area (gardens, arenas and amphitheatre) occupy a total area of 135,000 square meters, with a private protected beach stretching across 700 meters.

The Abu Dhabi Ladies Club & Sports Academy design is based on a texture of traditional Islamic patterns. The complex consists of a series of buildings arranged around a central axis, creating a comforting environment.

The slanted interfaces of the walls contain two windows with distinctive decorations and motifs, derived from the sub-motifs of tree leaves covered with stone arches with the technical swab to provide indulgence and relaxation for members.

This exceptional facility is located near the Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel in Abu Dhabi, just off a major highway, easily accessible for visitors.

In a statement, H.E. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Mahmood, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), said that “the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club project was initiated as part of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 in developing cultural and recreational facilities for the Abu Dhabi citizens and residents, meeting the highest international standards, and will provide exceptional services to the ladies’ communities in Abu Dhabi, combining sporting, cultural and entertainment services in one venue.”

He stressed that this unique project gains all the support of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak (Mother of The Nation), Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, who is very keen to provide all elements of success and ways of comfort to Emirati women.

Commenting on this milestone project Engineer Muna Al-Qubaisi, Director of Building Projects Services, Musanada, said that “Musanada is committed to supporting the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and its initiatives, and is doing its utmost to ensure the development of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club with the highest international standards, ensuring that only exceptional contractors and consultants are contracted to implement this exceptional project. The Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Sports Academy’s intricate façade and build was specifically designed to be both energy-saving, cost and maintenance efficient towards green initiatives and functional as well as incorporating a state-of-the-art design and will use best-in-class construction practises.”

Eng. Alia Al Zarouni, Sr. Development Manager, added “The project has been divided into two phases, where phase 1 will ensure the Main Club Building is delivered in early 2014, and phase 2 construction will start while phase 1 is in full operation. This will ensure the ladies in Abu Dhabi have a much needed, ladies’ only, health and recreational facility by next year”

ADLC was established to keep pace with the large and successive developments witnessed by the UAE in general, and Abu Dhabi in particular. This also aimed at creating a unique cultural landmark in the capital, carrying a distinctive mark that reflects the current evolution in the local community.

The project aims at establishing a club to serve women and girls in Abu Dhabi providing a safe haven to encourage their participation in an array of sporting activities, as well as nurturing artistic activities and recreational and social activities alike.
