HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Visits Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition 2013 On Its Last Day

ADISE 2013 witnessed more than 15,000 visitors during the four day event

 

HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council visited and toured today the Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition “ADISE 2013”, which was organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and was supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The exhibition witnessed a wide variety of discussion panels as well as various indoor and outdoor sport activities on a total of 15,000 square meters at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Commenting on the launch of ADISE 2013, HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “The organisation of Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition falls in line with the strategic plan adopted by Abu Dhabi to further strengthen the capital’s position on the global map as one of the most important destinations for sports and various other fields.”

HE added: “In its second edition, ADISE 2013 witnessed a large diversity in its activities placing Abu Dhabi on a leading position in the global sports community. The event represents a commercial and cultural platform along with the recreational activities. These activities will enable the UAE to attract more of the world’s largest exhibitors and other international sports events.”

Statistics indicated that ADISE 2013 gathered during the four day event more than 15,000 visitors, which included UAE citizens, residents as well as tourists. The event brought together more than 100 local and international exhibitors with the participation of companies, international brands, sports federations, sports clubs, government entities, sports equipment manufacturers, sponsors, sports events organisers, sports and stadiums marketing agencies in various categories ranging from motor sports, water sports, outdoor and adventure sports, sports cars, health and fitness along with additional sports activities and equipment.

ADISE 2013 encompassed a variety of activities aiming to develop and enhance the knowledge and awareness on the benefits of sports for the UAE community. On the sidelines of this event, 15 discussion panels presented by international and local sports experts took place to discuss the future of sports in the Middle East and around the world.

Commenting on the last day of ADISE 2013, HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmood, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council said: “Despite the fact that it is still in its second edition, ADISE was able to support Abu Dhabi’s strategic plan, which aims at increasing awareness on the sports culture on commercial and sports levels. In addition, this exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to witness the leading products and various sports programmes, which in turn helped in boosting the leading and prestigious position of Abu Dhabi on a local and international level in the sports sector.”

HE added: “These discussion panels organised by the exhibition formed a new opportunity in the world of sport exhibitions whereby visitors were provided with specialised research in the field of health, sports nutrition and food safety along with presenting the public with the experience of professional and distinguished athletes.”

Moreover, ADISE 2013, in its fourth and final day, offered two discussion panels whereby the first focused on Leisure Sports while the second session offered visitors a presentation on Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.

The first discussion panel titled Enjoying Leisure Sports With Safety was presented by Colonel Jamal Salem Al Amri, Abu Dhabi Police Department; Sam Ibrahim, Commercial Manager at PowerSports; Daniel Birkhofer, Managing Editor & Owner of Bei Outdoor UAE; Yasser Salah Salem Hassan, Director for the Harley Owner Abu Dhabi Chapter Group. The speakers discussed the importance of ensuring safety and providing the right equipment when practising leisure sports. They also highlighted the need to set and clarify the actions that should be taken when faced with an accident along with a discussion on the role of nutrition while practising such sports.”

ADISE 2013 discussion panels ended with a presentation on Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award whereby Dr. Ahmed Al Sherif, Secretary General Dubai Sports Council, emphasised on the vital role played by this award on supporting creative and outstanding efforts of individuals, groups, sports entities and institutions aimed at developing the sports sector in addition to establishing the concept of sports culture and innovation. Dr. Sherif also highlighted the award’s role in encouraging the Arabian cadres in contributing to the development of sports in major sports events and achievements, along with encouraging athletes working within the sports sector in all countries to achieve new levels of creativity by providing the moral and financial incentives.

It is noteworthy mentioning that media played a prominent role in supporting and promoting the Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition “ADISE 2013” whereby a number of media specialists in various sports fields on a local and international level had the opportunity to manage the discussion panels. In addition, a specialised discussion covered the unique role the media is playing in supporting the development of sports in the UAE.
