Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition "ADISE 2013" Kicks Off Today

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and in the presence of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan

 

HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, inaugurated today Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition “ADISE 2013” at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), in the presence of a number of significant sports figures on a local and international level. ADISE 2013 is organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

During HE’s visit to the exhibition, which runs until April 12, HE was briefed on the latest products, equipments and sports services offered by more than 100 local and international sports exhibitors from sports federations, sports clubs, government entities, sports equipment manufacturers, sports events organisers and sponsors, sports and stadiums marketing agencies, and others. HE was also briefed on the indoor and outdoor activities that will be held on an area of 5000 sq. metres.

In his opening speech, HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said: “I am pleased to welcome you all in the UAE and at the Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition, ADISE 2013, a sports event which reaffirms the UAE’s position as a capital of sports, a leading capital for culture and education, an attractive destination as well as a successful model for growth and progress in all different fields in the UAE.”

HE added: “This exhibition has become one of the most important sports events in the world in addition to an important platform to showcase the latest equipments and practices in the world of sports; which in turn will help in building local and international relationships as well as supporting the high value of joint objectives that is reflected in the sports activities and competitions across different sports fields. Moreover, this exhibition supports and resolves the issues facing sports around the world. We are delighted to have received a large number of participants which reflects the success and importance of achieving ADISE’s goals and objectives.

For his part, HE Mohamad Ibrahim Al Mahmood, Vice President of the General Authority for Youth and General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council said: “Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition in its second edition is witnessing the participation of a large number of exhibitors and visitors as well as athletes. Following ADISE’s great success during the previous year, and since the exhibition bears the name of our beloved capital, the council looks forward to defining its role and mission on the world sports map.”

HE Al Mahmood added: “This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to promote the sports culture at an international and regional level along with providing the opportunity for local and international exhibitors to showcase their latest products, equipment and services for professionals and individuals from all over the Middle East and the world in a dynamic environment.”

The first day of the event witnessed a variety of activities including three main discussion panels; one being on Empowerment of Women Sports in the UAE and the Region presented by Sheikha Shamsa Al Maktoum, Women’s Volleyball Groups Supervisor; Nada Zeidan, First GCC Female Rally Driver and Archer; Hadeel Al Masri, Advisor of Abu Dhabi Sports Council in addition to Shoug Abdel Rahman, Basketball and Volleyball coach. This discussion panel covered the facilitation of the integration of women through their participation in sports, the socio-economic benefits that arise from the increase in females participation in sports along with the mechanisms needed to prepare future female champions in the UAE.

Moreover, the second discussion panel titled Movement for Health , Importance of Exercising to the UAE Citizens, which stressed on the importance of physical sport activities to diabetic patients as well as the dangers of diabetes and the condition that should be taken into consideration that might prevent diabetes patients from exercising. The discussion panel was presented by Dr. Saf Naqvi, Doctor from Imperial College London Diabetes Centre and moderated by Dr. Murat Dalkilinc, PT, PhD, UAE Armed Forces.

However, the third discussion panel titled World Football Academy Seminar was moderated by Jamal Al Shaikh, Professional Coordinator, Technical Affairs Division and was split into two parts. The first part was presented by Raymond Verheijen whereby he introduced the World Football Academy. On the other hand, the second part focused on the youth football training and was presented by Henk Mariman.

In fact, ADISE features various activities that involves a large number of leading sports organisations and media outlets in the UAE such as the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, TCA Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award that is represented by Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Sports Channel along with more than 15 sports organisations and federations.

The Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition “ADISE 2013” welcomes all visitors at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in Halls 10 and 11 for four consecutive days until April 12th, from 10:00 AM to 10:00pm.
