Turkish Airlines, the national carrier of Turkey and Europe’s best airline, showcased its growing Middle East Network and diverse corporate product offering at the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM), held recently at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Turkish Airlines recorded a growth in passenger traffic of 36 per cent in Abu Dhabi last year, compared to 2011, sustaining the momentum the world’s fastest growing airline reports across the Middle East. In response to this increased demand, flights from the UAE capital were increased to six per week in 2012, offering business and leisure travellers’ access to more countries in the world than any other airline.

The airline’s rapid expansion reflects Turkey’s premier position as a global hub for conference and leisure tourism, and drawing on the construction of Turkey’s new airport in Istanbul, set to become the largest in the world. This is paving the way for further expansion of Turkish Airlines operations worldwide and across the Middle East where the airline currently flies to 31 destinations.

Samil Karakas, General Manager for Turkish Airlines in Abu Dhabi, said: "The MICE sector and tourism industries have been integral in contributing to the robust growth in passenger numbers from Abu Dhabi. We have witnessed strong growth in business travel which further highlights the rising popularity of Istanbul as a central hub between East and West."  

He added: "The increased number of weekly flights provides further flexibility for our customers and we are confident that with our award-winning inflight service, competitive pricing and diverse corporate product offering the upward trend in passenger numbers will continue."

Turkish Airlines provided an overview of the airlines planned expansion in meetings with representatives from across the MICE sector and presented benefits of The Turkish Corporate Club (TCC), a bespoke offering that provides corporations with benefits including competitive rates, exclusive discounts, free luggage allowance and flexibility.
