The UAE will design and build the largest ever balloon in Africa and Asia, chief of the UAE Balloon team has announced.
Flight Captain Abdul Aziz Naser, head of the UAE balloon team, said: "We have finalised a preliminary study for designing and manufacturing the UAE flag balloon which will be the largest of its kind in Asia and Africa in terms of size and technology,’’he said, adding that the UAE would be the only country in Asia and the third worldwide after US and Canada to have such a powerful balloon.
"With 50 metre-length and 25-metre width, the two-engine balloon is expected to be launched next December to mark the country’s 37th national day," he disclosed.
He said the project was raised with the British Cameron, the world’s best balloon-maker. Italian balloon designer Paulo Benano will oversee the construction of the huge balloon.
