More than 5,000 rare artistic beads will be displayed for the first time at the iconic Emirates Palace during a show that starts at the end of this month and lasts for three months.
The collection is owned by Turkish businessman Berat Serdar Neziroğlu who says the beads reflect the Ottoman civilization and were hand-made by 60 Turkish artists.The show will open on March 31 and end on June 30 and it will be held at Caviar Bar area at the hotel’s lobby level to ensure maximum attendance.
“This is a collection which has been meticulously brought together over the years…it has been described as one of the world’s most valuable collections,” Neziroğlu said.
He said the beads, mostly prayers beads, had been made from more than 100 different materials and that they are all handmade.
Neziroğlu said he began collecting beads in 2007, when he bought a silver one during a flight, describing the purchase as “the start of the adventure.”
“Like all other collectors, I initially collected non-artistic beads. Later on I began to research and I learned the difference between the normal prayer beads and those of artistic value…I met the real artists who perform this art,” he said.
“My aim of this exhibition is to show Ottoman art to the world. This is the very first time art beads will be exhibited and we chose Abu Dhabi for this exciting experience….we are really proud to share this amazing collection with the UAE.”
