H.E. Dr. Jou’an Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, Abu Dhabi received this morning a delegation of eight Mayors from South Korea at the Department of Municipal Affairs. Also greeting the South Korean delegates was His Excellency Ahmed Shareef, Undersecretary, Department of Municipal Affairs and His Excellency Jouma Junaibi, General Manager Abu Dhabi Municipality.

The delegation consisted of Mayor Gang Seog Gu of Buk-gu District Ulsan Metropolitan city, Mayor Eom Tae Young of Jechon City Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Mayor Kim Jai Ook of Cheongwon-gun County Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Mayor Choi Jung Keun of Namwon City Jeollabuk-do Province, Mayor Seo Samseog of Muan-gun County Jeollanam-do Province, Mayor Lee Hyung Seok of Hamyeong-gun County Jeollanam-do Province, Mayor Um Tae Hang of Bonghwa-gun County Gyeongsnagbuk-do Province, Mayor Kim Yong Soo of Uljin-gun County Gyeongsnagbuk-do Province, Mr. Jun Daewan a high level diplomat, and Mr. Jang Eunmi from the Korea Local Authorities Foundation for International Relations.

The visit was coordinated with the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Seoul Korea and the International Relations Department for the Korea Local Authorities Foundation for International Relations in Seoul.

Department of Municipal Affairs, Chairman, explained the Abu Dhabi government’s strategic agenda that has led to the formation of the Department of Municipal Affairs and the creation of Abu Dhabi’s new municipal system. “We are very pleased to host this delegation from Seoul Korea and share with them some of the exciting developments here in the United Arab Emirates and the Municipality of Abu Dhabi. It is certainly valuable to continue having ongoing open dialogue to share our experiences, practices and learnings with our foreign governmental guests.”

H.E. Dr. Jou’an Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman, Department of Municipal Affairs, discussed the coordination and exchange occurring between the Department of Municipal Affairs, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Al Ain Municipality, and Western Region Municipality with regards to common issues such as ongoing private sector engagement, construction, investment, and sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The delegation also went to the Abu Dhabi Municipality for additional briefing and presentations.
