Etihad Appoints New Malaysia Country Manager
(20 August 2008)
Etihad Airways Has Appointed Adam Phillips As The Airline’s New Country Manager For Malaysia

Etihad Airways has appointed Adam Phillips as the airline’s new country manager for Malaysia.

Adam has ten years of aviation experience and moves to Kuala Lumpur from his current role as Etihad Airways’ head of alliances, having joined the Abu Dhabi-based airline in May 2007.

During this period, Adam has overseen the development of Etihad’s alliance strategy and the establishment of codeshare and interline agreements with other airlines across the world.

He takes over in the Etihad Kuala Lumpur office from Lindsay White who has moved to become Etihad’s country manager in Australia.

Geert Boven, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president sales and services, said: “Adam has a great understanding of the aviation industry, particularly in Asia and the Far East, and he will be able to use this experience to great effect in his new post as Malaysia country manager.”

“This year has seen demand for Etihad’s Abu Dhabi – Kuala Lumpur service grow considerably and we look forward to building on this success when Adam joins the Malaysia team at the beginning of September.”

Prior to joining Etihad, Adam worked at Gulf Air where he held the position of head of alliances and schedule distribution. He was also network and alliances manager for Ansett / Air New Zealand.

Before moving into the aviation industry, Adam held posts within the Productivity Commission of the Australian Federal Government Treasury and the State Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

Adam Phillips said: “In just 18 months Etihad has established itself as one of the most popular airlines operating into Malaysia. I look forward to joining this successful team and maintaining the airline’s leading position in Kuala Lumpur.”

Etihad launched its six flights a week service from Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur in January 2007. The service has enjoyed great success, operating at more than 75 per cent full throughout 2008, climbing to 85 per cent full in July.

Outbound EY 418 departs from Abu Dhabi 2:45am, arriving at Kuala Lumpur at 1:55pm. The return flight EY 411 departs Kuala Lumpur at 9:30pm, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 00:15.
