Abu Dhabi Event To Put Spotlight On Energy-Efficient Buildings
(16 August 2008)
“Gulf Construction Economies Can Benefit From Incorporating Energy Efficiency Measures At Construction Phase” - Fountain

A number of international exhibitors from Europe and North America will showcase products designed to create energy efficient buildings and demonstrate ways to deal with the daunting crisis of global warming while preserving the energy status quo at Working Buildings Middle East, which is scheduled to take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on 17th and 18th November 2008.

The event organized by CMPi UAE will demonstrate to the regional construction industry, methods to improve energy efficiency of buildings, and provide a much-needed stimulus to the Gulf construction economies.

“Many times, complicated problems require the simplest of solutions. One of the most important questions facing those attempting to solve the climate change crisis is: “How do we reduce CO2 emissions dramatically and the answers will be on display at our event in Abu Dhabi,” said Chris Fountain, Event Director of CMPi organizers of the event.

He noted that the implementation of straightforward, off-the-shelf, residential and commercial building efficiency measures would reduce energy consumption in new buildings and save thousands of dollars.

Spiraling energy demand in the Gulf states, coupled with a gas-supply crunch, has put pressure on the economies of the region that require more hydrocarbons being devoted to power generation than had been the case historically, as power supply needs to keep pace with development.

The oil-boom-fuelled economic growth, coupled with fast growing populations and subsidy-driven consumer patterns, have made the Gulf States some of the largest per-capita energy consumers in the world.

The mass of real estate projects consistently under construction in the Middle East have the opportunity to add environment-friendly energy conserving solutions at the building stages itself.

Working Buildings Middle East will provide a valuable opportunity for local and international companies to showcase their products and services to the increasingly important Middle East market. The event has been designed to target all those involved in the management and maintenance of buildings and property. Working Buildings Middle East will explore the latest products, services and best-practice examples relating to the complete life cycle of a building.
