"Khalifa In World Languages" National Initiative Launched
(12 December 2012)

In a deep expression of love and loyalty to the leader, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Sultan bin Zayed’s Culture and Media Centre launched the national initiative ’Khalifa in World Language’ at the Abu Dhabi Corniche Breakwater under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s Representative, and CMC Chairman.

Dr. Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Heritage Club and Director General of the CMC, unveiled the maqueete of the world’s largest heritage gate carrying the name of President Khalifa in 200 languages.

Sheikh Hazza then moved to the Emirates Palace to reveal the largest ID card in the world, holding UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s name and picture as part of the national initiative ’Khalifa in World Languages’ and two printed and online versions of an encyclopedia called Khalifa in World Languages. He also opened a calligraphy exhibition featuring Sheikh Khalifa’s name in more than 100 genres of Arabic calligraphy.

Addressing the glittering ceremony, Deputy Director of CMC Ahmed Saeed Al Rumaithi, said the initiative translates the deep love and loyalty for the UAE leader.

’’The initiative aims to pay profound tribute and gratitude to President Khalifa who beat all expectations and won praise from all over the world,’’ he said, adding that the initiative underlines the CMC’s vision to promote cultural diversity the UAE boasts of.

Later, Sheikh Hazza watched operetta Khalifa in World Languages which was gifted to Sheikh Khalifa to express love and loyalty of the people of the UAE and expatriate residents.

The architectural model of the 25-metre heritage gate is designed to the highest international standards to reflect the project’s aims and become a tourist attraction to lure visitors from within UAE and beyond.

Standing 25 metres tall, the door will inspire local and international artists to leave their mark on the door through inscribing ’Khalifa’ in their own languages and styles.

The initiative was launched by The Sultan bin Zayed’s Culture and Media Centre, in cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, UAE University and the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development.
