“We are honored to support the Annual IAOM Mideast & Africa District Conference & Expo, that has become one of the most important affairs of the milling industry in our region, bringing together the industry’s innovators, key players and decision-makers to explore ways on how we could effectively fulfill our pivotal role in the future of world food and nutrition security”, he added.
This year is the largest gathering in IAOM Mideast & Africa District’s history. Registrants reached a record number of over 600 from 46 countries. The exhibitors represent grain traders, machinery manufactures, food processing and packing companies, as well as numerous industry experts from multi-trade grain houses, flour millers, government authorities, commodity traders and machinery suppliers.
Merzad Jamshidi, IAOM MEA District Director, spoke about the strong and growing participation and cooperation of the region’s millers in IAOM’s annual conference and expo. He says, “The millers of the Mideast & Africa yearn for continuous learning, innovation and new technology, which are all key success factors in food processing. Finding solutions to crises and threats to the world’s food security is no less important. These ideals could be well achieved through open dialogue and cooperation within the region and with our neighbors. The annual event also serves as an opportunity for the Leadership Council and Education Committee to meet and discuss issues, concerns and future plans of the Mideast & Africa District.”
The three-day conference is divided into three sessions—management, technical and trading, and will address major themes regarding the milling industry including global food security, commodity market volatility, as well providing a platform for networking, exploring new markets and sharing new technologies, quality and safety standards, trends and learnings related to the milling industry.
The IAOM, founded in 1896, is considered to be the largest gathering of milling industry professionals in the Middle East and Africa Region and comprises grain millers and allied trades representatives devoted to the advancement of education and training opportunities in the grain milling industries.
