3M Gulf, a recognized leader in research and development has announced its participation at the 2012 edition of Gulf Traffic exhibition, the Middle East’s industry event that focuses on the latest advancements in the traffic, transport and road safety industries.
3M Gulf will showcase a strong presence at the Gulf Traffic exhibition at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. From 19 -21 November 2012, the 3M Traffic Safety Systems division will present an innovative range of road safety solutions for complete traffic sign installation and program upgrades.
3M’s presence at the event will witness the demonstration of Roadway Maintenance Services’ value-added services include data management, sign identification and inventory, along with GIS mapping systems, utilizing internet-based approach that does not require expensive software systems.
Commenting on 3M Gulf’s participation at Gulf Traffic 2012, Timothy M O’Leary, Global Business Development Manager, 3M Motor Vehicle Safety Systems Division said, “The traffic management systems have undergone major upgrades with the advent of technology and the fast evolving priorities of Government entities and safety regulators. 3M’s Traffic Sign Installation and Upgrade Programs, offers:
- Traffic Sign Data Management and Inventory: A variety of data management and inventory options are available in conjunction with sign installation and upgrade activity including sign tagging systems, inventory management database development, GIS mapping, and "real-time" project management information.
- Traffic Sign Financing Programs: 3M offers a sign installation and maintenance program wherein Roadway Maintenance Services professionals are responsible for the assessment, maintenance and replacement of the traffic sign network and assets throughout the service term of the contract. Agencies may finance the program through monthly or quarterly payments.
- Traffic Sign Replacement and Upgrade: Roadway Maintenance Services professionals act as an extension of agency staff to supplement fabrication, installation, and replacement activities for state and local traffic sign programs.

3M announced recently that it has completed its acquisition of the business of Federal Signal Technologies Group (FSTech) from Federal Signal Corp. FSTech focuses on electronic toll collection and parking management hardware and software services.
Electronic tolling and parking are key adjacencies to 3M’s business for motor vehicle systems and services. FSTech complements 3M’s products and services for the Department of Transportation, the Department of Motor Vehicles, toll authorities, public safety agencies and parking operators. The integration of FSTech into 3M will enable the next generation of innovative toll, public safety and parking solutions.
