UAE Ambassador, Mohammed Rashid Al-Buot, has praised UAE for the unprecedented presence and participation in the Beijing Olympic Games.
The ambassador made the comment when he received UAE’s Olympic Gold medallist, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher Al Maktoum, on his arrival at the Beijing International Airport. Also at the airport to receive the UAE Olympic delegation were a number of senior officials from the UAE embassy.
Al-Buot expressed happiness for the UAE’s proactive participation in the Olympiad.
"Boosting good relations between countries are very important and sports is one of the most effective means of boosting these ties," he said and reiterated the deeply rooted ties between the UAE and China, which has witnessed giant strides in recent years.
He expressed the hope that UAE sportsmen and women would live up to the hope and aspirations of their people back home.
Meanwhile, the ambassador said Shaikha Meitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and her team will arrive in Beijing on August 6 from South Korea where she is pitching camp in preparation for the Olympic games.
