Internationally acclaimed British solo artist Leona Lewis will grace the red carpet at this year’s star-studded Chequered Flag Ball in Abu Dhabi on November 2.
The ‘Bleeding Love’ star will head for the UAE capital for a little rest and recuperation after a busy year in which she launched her much-awaited third album ‘Glassheart’.
The ball, now into its fourth year, has previously welcomed a host of stars from the worlds of music, film, fashion and sport including Hugh Grant, Beverly Knight, David Coulthard, Paul Casey and Boris Becker.
Leona Lewis is the latest star confirmed for this year’s glamorous event, with organisers already announcing that soul queen Jocelyn Brown, former F1 supremo Eddie Jordan and Sky Sports F1 pit lane beauty Natalie Pinkham will all be in attendance.
Speaking ahead of her visit, Lewis said: “I was meant to travel to Abu Dhabi a couple of years ago for the F1 but unfortunately that didn’t happen so I’ve really been looking forward to getting a chance to come back.
“When I got the chance to attend the Chequered Flag Ball and enjoy the F1 weekend with the girls I jumped at the chance.
Lewis will grace the red carpet and rub shoulders with fans and other celebrities during the evening, before enjoying the rest of the race weekend at Yas Marina Circuit. The event will come as a perfect opportunity to let her hair down after a hectic year spent promoting her new album.
“I spent a long time making sure the new album is just how I wanted it,” said Lewis.
“A lot of the material is based on personal experience and the rollercoaster emotions of love and relationships and that it couldn’t be rushed.
“I’m glad is done now and I’m really looking forward to enjoying a girly weekend enjoying the F1.”
Lewis admits her F1 knowledge is limited but she is looking forward to the glamour of the occasion.
“My F1 knowledge is non-existent. Lewis Hamilton is the only driver I know personally and he’s really sweet. He’s mentioned how amazing Yas Marina Circuit is and how great Abu Dhabi is in general so it should be a fun new experience and I’m really excited.”
