Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) has had eight ideas from its innovative in-house suggestion scheme shortlisted amongst finalists at the prestigious 26th Ideas UK conference taking place at Bristol Hotel on the 7th and 8th November. Ideas UK is world leading non-commercial association in the United Kingdom dedicated to employee suggestion schemes/reward and recognition processes.
Main sponsor of the conference and of the Idea of the Year competition, EMAL submitted a list of employee suggestion scheme ideas implemented at the Al Taweelah aluminium smelter during 2011 and 2012. Eight suggestions from multiple EMAL departments have been shortlisted as finalists, with four from the Reduction, three from Carbon, Lab and Port and one from Central Maintenance Services. EMAL delegation will present their ideas to a judging committee at the event, which will then announce winners per category at the final Gala dinner.
EMAL President and CEO, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, said: “Our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement is at the core of everything that we do at EMAL. This commitment to ensure EMAL stays at the leading edge of aluminium production for the benefit of the UAE economy extends to every employee. The fact that eight ideas from EMAL employees have been accepted as finalists against companies worldwide, demonstrates that EMAL truly is a major new global player in aluminium, as well as in business excellence.”
