’Alonso Out To Put The Record Straight In Abu Dhabi’ Says Jordan
(17 October 2012)
Former F1 boss Eddie Jordan says the Spaniard won’t surrender title hope without fight

Fernando Alonso won’t give up his F1 title chances this year without a huge fight, says former F1 boss and television pundit Eddie Jordan.

The title seemed Alonso’s to lose mid-way through the season until Sebastian Vettel’s trio of race victories catapulted him to the top of the driver’s championship table.

Whatever the result in the India, it will be all to play for when the drivers line up on the starting grid in Abu Dhabi next month, where Jordan says Alonso will be sure not to make the same mistake twice by surrendering his championship chances to Sebastian Vettel in Abu Dhabi as was the case in 2010.

Speaking ahead of his visit to Abu Dhabi Jordan said: “Vettel looks in fabulous shape right now and definitely has the momentum with him. But Alonso is strong. You’d be silly man to bet which way this season’s going to go at this stage.

“Red Bull have had their problems with the reliability of the car during the course of the season, and although the circuits between now and the end of the year do favour their pace, you get the sense that Alonso won’t want to make the same mistake he did a couple of years ago in Abu Dhabi.

“He’ll be very aware of what happened in 2010 and I should think he’s be out to turn the tables.”

Jordan also said that Ferrari’s deep roots and support within the region would go some way to focusing their minds for the race.
Abu Dhabi has a great love for Ferrari and vice versa.

“I can tell you, being in Abu Dhabi means a lot to the team -it’s like their second home, so you can be sure that everyone at Yas Marina Circuit is going to be in for a real battle.

“It’s been a thrilling season that is still wide open. It’s anyone’s guess which way this is going to go.

“If Ferrari need any further inspiration, they can come and watch me and my band play in the Chequered Flag Ball a couple of nights before.”

Eddie Jordan will be attending this year’s Abu Dhabi Chequered Flag Ball on Friday 2nd November at the St Regis Saadiyat Island. Joining Eddie will be Sky Sports’ Natalie Pinkham, soul Diva Jocelyn Brown and superstar Leona Lewis.

Limited tickets are still available for this evening of glamour and F1. For more details call 04 445 6842 or visit
