Economic relations between Japan and the emirate of Abu Dhabi will receive a new boost next month as members of the Abu Dhabi-Japan Economic Council meet next November in Abu Dhabi to discuss industrial cooperation, promotion of businesses, Japan’s support to small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) and Japan’s initiative for medical cooperation and development of human resources in the emirate.
At the forthcoming meeting in November, senior officials of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) and the Abu Dhabi-Japan Economic Council (AJEC) will discuss business opportunities in Abu Dhabi, trends and progress of policies drawn up for attracting foreign investment, according to the President of the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME), Tadatsuna Koda told WAM in an exclusive interview in Tokyo.
The meeting will also discuss details about laws related to business in Abu Dhabi, Koda, who co-chaired the first AJEC meeting and the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum in February 2012 in the Japanese capital, added.
Koda reiterated his country’s interest in the emirate of Abu Dhabi which he said is "one of the most important partners for Japan, not only as a major oil and gas exporter, but also as a favorable destination for further business development.
"We decided to focus our efforts on strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Abu Dhabi. Last year, our organization JCCME and Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development signed an MoU to strengthen high-level communication and encourage Japanese companies to promote their business and investments and presence in emirate," he added.
"We have to concentrate and materialize our efforts to enhance economic relations between Abu Dhabi and Japan," he said.
The JCCME senior official stressed that the meeting will contribute to the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, the emirates ambitious roadmap to economic progress and urban development.
Koda explained that JCCME is a non-profit organization tasked with promoting Japan’s economic relations with the Middle East. Through its Abu Dhabi-Japan Business Promotion Initiative, the body provides full support to Japanese companies willing to invest in Abu Dhabi. JCCME has bilateral initiatives only with Abu Dhabi, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
Among its efforts to promote Japanese businesses overseas, JCCME will also take part in the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi early next year, to introduce Japanese companies and renewable energy technologies to international markets, according to Koda.
