On 30th September 2012, EMAL powered its Phase I potline amperage up from 350 kA to 380 kA current, improving efficiency to increase annual production from 750,000 to 800,000 metric tonnes of aluminium per annum.
To achieve this latest milestone, EMAL invested in two Recti formers, for each potline to increase power to 87.5kA in each Recti former. In addition, the carbon plant has been upgraded to start producing larger carbon anodes to compliment the increase in power in each reduction cell.

Implementing this new upgrade on the Emirati Dubal DX Technology is yet another record figure to the long list of achievements of our state-of-the-art smelter."
