Months of preparation and training will be put to the test as the fifth annual Play for Life Football tournament kicks off in Abu Dhabi from 7 pm at Zayed Sports City on Sunday October 7 2012.
Sixteen teams compete in a total of 24 matches over the first three days of play to decide the four quarter finalists.
The Football 2012 team tally includes several returning champions and strong contenders of the cup fighting it out for the Champions’ Cup including SEHA, Dolphin Energy, Etihad Rail and Mubadala who have displayed a strong performance in past tournaments.
Play for Life is part of ICLDC’s public health awareness campaign, ‘Diabetes-Knowledge-Action’, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Football 2012 is organised by ICLDC, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) as the event’s Supporting Government Partner.
Format:
• Nightly, from 7pm, October 7 to 11 2012 at Zayed Sports City.
• Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups of four to compete in seven-a-side matches, each of 30 minutes duration.
• The Match Schedule is managed in a round-robin format.
• The finals will be played on October 11, with the awarding of:
o Champions’ Cup
o Best Player of the Tournament
o Top Goal Scorer of the Tournament
o Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament
