Under the patronage of H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan International Thalassemia Award, inaugurated on Saturday the first regional office of Thalassemia International Federation.

Chairman of the Thalassemia International Federation in Cyprus, representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and a group of scholars and doctors attended the event.

Sheikh Zayed conveyed the regards of Sheikh Sultan. He highlighted the role of the UAE in treatment of hemoglobin and Thalassemia diseases. Sheikh Zayed noted that the UAE was one of the first countries in the region that had dealt with the disease.
