Young Players Head To Old Trafford For Manchester United Soccer Schools World Skills Final
(30 September 2012)

The second Manchester United Soccer Schools Abu Dhabi Skills Final saw Do Hyun Kim from South Korea, 13 years old, and Ahmed Al Sadaawi from Sweden, 10 years old, come out on top against 30 finalists in a hardly fought competition at the Dome@Rawdhat.

Hard work, practice and dedication have earned the two boys the opportunity to represent the UAE capital at the famous training ground of the Red Devils where they will compete against other competition winners from around the world at next month’s Manchester United Soccer Schools World Skills Final.

The MUSS World Skills Final will test all of the young players in a series of dribbling, short passing and ball control challenges. The players will also have the opportunity to play on the pitch at Old Trafford in front of a capacity crowd, prior to Manchester United’s Premiership home game against Stoke City on October 20th.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime,” said Do Hyun Kim. “I feel very honoured to play on the same pitch as the first team and I am really looking forward to the experience.”

“During the Manchester United Soccer Schools course we have all worked very hard and enjoyed lots of challenges with our coaches,” added Ahmed Al Sadaawi. “I was up against some really talented players during the skills finals and I feel very proud to be the one of the two going to play at Old Trafford in front of so many people.”

Recognised for providing a multi-cultural training platform and welcoming players of all abilities and talents, MUSS has welcomed more than 2000 players between seven and 16 from 40 different nationalities since the first course was launched in Abu Dhabi by local partner Reem Investments in 2010.

The new season for MUSS kicks off in Abu Dhabi this weekend on Saturday 29th September with a new course focusing on the skills and techniques of central midfield players Paul Scholes, Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick.

Additionally, as a result of the success that the programme has witnessed in Abu Dhabi over the last two seasons, 2012-2013 will see the inaugural MUSS programme for Dubai taking place at Repton School after a new deal signed by Reem Investments. The course will start next week on Friday 5 October.
