ZonesCorp Holds a Seminar on Improving Energy Efficiency & Carbon Reduction

Event preceded by MoU with DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability

 

Aiming to achieve greater energy efficiency within the industrial sector and in line with its efforts to raise awareness among its stakeholders on eco-friendly practices, The Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp) held a seminar today on energy efficiency for high energy customer industries at Beach Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

During the seminar, ZonesCorp signed a Memorandum of Understating (MoU) with one of the leading companies in business and technical consultancy; DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability, aiming to enhance its energy efficiency efforts and reduce CO2 emissions in its industrial zones.The MOU was signed by Abdulaziz Ahmed Bawazeer, Executive Vice President- Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Unit and Mohammed Atif, Managing Director KEMA Middle East Fze.  The signing was attended by 60 leading management members from different investor operations within ZonesCorp, global experts in energy management, experts from the Regulation and Supervisory Bureau (RSB), Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) the Urban Planning Council (UPC), and Dutch Consulate Officials.

Commenting on the event, Abdulaziz Ahmed Bawazeer said: "ZonesCorp aims to create an industrial environment where world class techniques are applied and adopted while maintaining eco-friendly approaches. Thus we strive to inform our customers and stakeholders on the latest trends and policies in the industrial sector to protect and improve Abu Dhabi’s industrial environment, contributing towards achieving the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030."

The seminar shed light on a wide range of topics, presented by pioneer figures from the field. The topics included a summary on energy consumption in the industry and methods of energy management. Discussions were led by numerous speakers including Haike van de Vegte of DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability, Mr. Ramiz Alaileh, Powerwise Manager from Regulation & Supervision Bureau, Dr. Mohammed Yusuf Al Madfaei, Executive Director Environmental Planning & Policies of EAD, Mr. Edwin Young, Estidama Manager UPC, Mr. Bart Adams, Head of Energy Efficiency Center, DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability, Elfride Covarrubias, Manager in Charge of Climate Change and Environmental Services in South Europe, Africa and Middle East, DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability and Mr. Geert-Jan Smithuis from DNV KEMA’s Dubai office. The seminar was concluded by a Q&A session where questions of attendees were answered by the speakers.
