(22 August 2012)

Visitors to this year’s Abu Dhabi Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition, which runs at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from September 5-8, will find an action-packed Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) stand with a host of contests carrying a total prize purse of Dhs325,000.

The 1,200 square meter stand will host a unique competition to unearth the best maker of Arabic coffee prepared the Emirati way. With different categories for men, and women, the competition’s own prize fund comes to Dhs100,000.

"This competition, which will be judged by intangible heritage experts from TCA Abu Dhabi will cover the making of the coffee - from the grinding of the beans - to the serving," explained Abdulla Al Qubaisi, TCA Abu Dhabi spokesperson.

"It is a competition which recognises the role coffee making and serving plays in epitomising the hospitality and generosity of our traditional life."

Other competitions being staged on the TCA Abu Dhabi stand include prizes for the best Nabati poetry devoted to hunting and falconry, the most beautiful painting related to hunting and the most expressive photographs depicting hunting, equestrianism and heritage.

"The Nabati winners will be those that come up with the finest poem about a hunting falcon, the finest poem describing a hunting trip and the finest poem dedicated to the loss of a bird," explained Al Qubaisi.

The National Library will also have on display, and on sale, various books devoted to hunting and falconry, there will be a children’s corner with games, a section for traditional handicrafts and a henna designer to paint visitors’ hands free-of-charge

"It will be a dynamic stand with much happening for visitors to gain a greater understanding of Emirati culture and traditions," explained Al Qubaisi.
