The commercial handover in Sky Tower began in early March 2011 and approximately 80% of sold commercial units have been handed over. Sales and leasing of unsold residential and commercial inventory is progressing well with over one hundred new leases and sales being executed year-to-date. Sky Tower offers 810,000 sq ft of grade A office space, of which over 600,000 sq ft has already been leased or sold. Major occupiers include Arabian Contractors Company (ACC), Advanced Integrated Systems, Agthia Group, Al Rams Securities, the Austrian Embassy, Bin Salem, NEST and Zyntech Holdings.
Handover of residential units at Sun & Sky Towers started at the beginning of May 2011 and around 65% of those sold have been handed over by period end. There is a growing community now forming with over 660 families living in Sun and Sky Towers.
Sky and Sun towers, which currently house more than 660 families, have been meticulously planned to provide an enhanced quality of life, and already features dedicated recreational, retail and entertainment facilities, including BOUTIK, the towers’ retail mall, which will house the leading supermarket chain Waitrose.
Abubaker Al Khouri, Managing Director, Sorouh said:
“Shams Abu Dhabi, which houses Sky tower, is a benchmark for the perfect residential, retail, and commercial mix in the emirate. Under the leadership of Sorouh, the development has evolved into a self-sustained community serving the needs of both individuals and businesses alike. We would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to provide utmost convenience to our clients and to remain competitive in terms of price, and also by offering flexible terms to our customers.”
Sun and Sky towers are landmark projects both for Sorouh and for the city, as they are also the first ‘Grade A’ buildings to be delivered in Abu Dhabi’s new investment zone on Al Reem Island. The 74-storey Sky Tower and 65-Storey Sun Tower are the two tallest buildings in the Shams Gate District, a cluster of eight towers located at the entrance of Shams Abu Dhabi on Al Reem Island, and the highest completed buildings in Abu Dhabi. The two towers represent a new style of living in the capital and comprise a mixture of commercial and residential space, creating the perfect mix for people living and working in the towers.
Sorouh has completed the infrastructure on Shams Abu Dhabi, allowing 10 other sub-developers to make progress with their own projects. The Sun and Sky Towers are the first mixed-use development to be completed on Shams Abu Dhabi. On the other hand, The Gate Towers, the three towers that form part of Shams Gate, are advancing rapidly. At present, structural work is being carried out on the last two levels which will then house the penthouse structure. The construction of the smaller fourth tower, the Arc, has topped out at level 23.
