The 2012 Global Financial Markets (GFMF) Forum will kick off on February 29th with a host of high profile speakers who will address the critical market factors in 2012.
The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) Financial Markets Division organises the annual Global Financial Markets Forum (GFMF) since 2009. The fourth GFMF will be held in Emirates Palace, on February 29 and March 1st, 2011.
“The economic influence of Abu Dhabi and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) continues to rise and this is why NBAD, the Number One Bank in the UAE, organises the Global Financial Markets Forum to facilitate discussion and debate to aid investors, and create greater awareness about our region,” says Mahmood Al Aradi, the Senior General Manager of NBAD’s Financial Markets Division. “Organising this major event and gathering so many renowned policy-makers and talking heads in Abu Dhabi certainly helps to raise Abu Dhabi’s profile to new heights.
“2012 is starting with many questions about the state and direction of the world economy so we have arranged for some of the most influential thinkers and shakers to attend this year’s Global Financial Markets Forum to address and debate what is on horizon this year.”
Mr. Al Aradi adds: “The GCC’s global influence is now beyond being a major supplier of fossil fuel; the region is now a significant player in the world economics as a hub of finance, a tourist destination, large consumer market and increasingly in manufacturing.”
Each year’s GFMF is unique and adds on the success of the year before. This year, organisers assemble speakers and panels who will discuss the impact of Euro’s challenges and last year’s regional political developments.
Last year’s GFMF attracted 700 delegates from across many countries, including such notable speakers as Dr. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the author of “The Black Swan;” and author, academic and economic commentator Jim Rogers.
“The annual Global Financial Markets Forum is recognised as an important medium for investors and financial thinkers to learn and discuss about critical issues of the day in one of the most important emerging regions of the world,” says Sameh Abdulla Al Qubaisi, the General Manager of Institutional and Corporate Coverage Group at NBAD’s Financial Markets Division.
“This year’s conference will address some very important issues, such as the economic outlook for Europe and US and their impact on the global economies. In addition, there will be focused discussion on regional infrastructure financing, debt capital markets as well as coverage on various asset classes such as real estate, commodities, foreign exchange and interest rates.”
GFMF includes the Investor Presentation sessions, a programme introduced to the region by NBAD last year during 2011 GFMF. The Investor Presentation sessions are aimed to target top investment managers globally and regionally. This new leg for the GFMF is in addition to the unique conference and workshops set-ups.
