The Al Nokhba interns held a charity Iftar dinner over the weekend at the Al-Falah mosque, Singapore. Envisioned and organized by the interns, the event sought to alleviate local poverty by raising funds for less fortunate youth. This year’s Al Nokhba internship, which also concluded over the weekend, marks the first time interns have been abroad during the holy month.
“The charity event held during this year’s trip was the perfect complement to our experience,” said organizing intern Mohammed Abdulla Almana Al Falasi. “The opportunity given to the students to host and organize such an event made us realize how privileged we are in the UAE, and even more, how to give without expecting anything in return. This opportunity also gave us a real insight into how other cultures celebrate the holy month. Engaging the Muslim community truly brought us closer to each other and increased our sense of social awareness.”
“When I look at the work of the interns over the past five weeks, I am truly impressed,” said Hanan Harhara, Head of Human Capital Development at ATIC. “This group was able to respond to the demands of the program while simultaneously facilitating a Ramadan Iftar for those in need, and that is no small feat. Not only has every intern demonstrated drive, intelligence and a true desire to learn, they exemplified the generosity and values I think represent the best of the UAE.”
Mrs. Mona Majed Al-Mansouri Guidance and Scholarship, Division Manager at ADEC, pointed out that Al-Nokhba summer Internship Program is considered a key initiative that would help enhance student performance, introduce them to new cultures, develop self-confidence & responsibility and act as ambassadors representing UAE.
“Internship students attended a number of practical workshops and sessions conducted by ADEC aiming to equip them with first-hand skills & knowledge in priority areas to include microchips, to boost their academic experiences and help them serve their country,” emphasized Al-Mansouri.
Sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Advanced Technology Investment Company (ATIC), Al Nokhba builds on ATIC’s central aim of promoting Abu Dhabi’s strategic development of the advanced technology sector, in particular the semiconductor industry. The initiative supports the development of human capital to drive the future of the industry, providing UAE nationals with world-class learning opportunities.
