As part of its commitment and dedication for sustainable employment for the UAE community, EMAL held its 2012 Summer Training Program at the Al Taweelah-based smelter. From the 26 June to 20 July, 18 UAE National students experienced work at what is set to become one of the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelters.
In line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision, the program offers young UAE nationals a chance to gain hands on experience in preparation for possible future careers within the aluminium industry.
Speaking about the program, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, EMAL’s President and CEO, said: “At EMAL we are investing today to reap the benefits tomorrow: today’s students are tomorrow’s employees. EMAL has a commitment to quality in all we do and we need a quality workforce if we are to continue the phenomenal success we have already achieved into the future.”
The program is designed to provide UAE National students with valuable work experience during their summer vacation. Initially all the students undertook EMAL’s Safety Courses followed by a tour of the smelter. Subsequently, each student joined their assigned department (based on their qualification) where they received general training, orientation and information about their respective department from a designated supervisor.
The Summer Training program is just one aspect of the training opportunities offered to Emiratis.
